1. ...to write.
Most of you probably already know the value writing has for thinking. Through writing, I find myself constantly gaining new insights. So, if I strive to write well, I will at the same time be striving to think well. And this is a discipline I would like to better cultivate in my walk with the Lord.
"The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil." Proverbs 15:28
2. ...to develop an eye for what is meaningful.
The constant question for a blogger... Is this bloggable?
I think blogging would help to nurture a habit of looking for insight and wisdom and value in every situation, no matter how mundane. And if we live our lives looking for what is worthwhile in every little thing, we will see more of what God has to teach us.
"If you seek her (wisdom) as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God". Proverbs 2:4-5
3. ...to recommend.
With every passing conversation, it seems like we're always recommending things to one another. Whether it's a good book, restaurant, ministry, or simply Jesus, there is always something new to learn that helps us through this pilgrimage. Therefore, if I can in some small way edify my blog followers with something that has blessed me, then I will be blessed!
"Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another". Romans 14:19
4. ...to share.
Blogging is fun! It's neat to see how God is working in the lives of His saints. Especially since every one's lives are so busy.
So, on my blog you may find everything from...
A picture of my child's birthday to quotes from those who love the Lord...
There may be cooking videos, economy updates, or even a sewing lesson, who knows!
But hopefully it will be a small source of glory to God that is both compelling and personal.
"I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works". Psalm 9:1
Conclusion
Why Blog? Sanctification, edification, and fun for the glory of God!
Hope you'll join in!
